Job Description:

Job Description: True North Expedition Summer Camp is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as an Assistant Summer Camp Director. This role is essential in ensuring smooth daily operations, maintaining safety protocols, managing staff, and serving as a key liaison between the camp and parents/guardians.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage Camp Operations:
    • Ensure 100% accountability in personnel, including campers and counselors.
    • Maintain oversight of all equipment and supplies to support camp activities.
    • Execute daily tasks efficiently in alignment with the camp’s mission and schedule.

  1. Staff Supervision and Management:
    • Manage weekly attendance and responsibilities of camp counselors.
    • Provide ongoing support, mentorship, and supervision to counselors.
    • Ensure all staff adhere to the camp’s mission and operational guidelines.

  1. Safety and Risk Management:
    • Supervise camp operations to uphold all safety protocols.
    • Monitor camper and staff interactions to ensure a safe and positive environment.
    • Respond promptly to any safety incidents and coordinate with True North staff as needed.

  1. Parent/Guardian Communication:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians.
    • Address concerns, inquiries, and provide regular updates on camp activities.
    • Ensure parents receive timely and clear communication regarding incidents, schedules, and policies.

  1. Collaboration and Documentation:
    • Maintain consistent communication with True North staff regarding operations, safety incidents, and parent inquiries.
    • Complete necessary documentation and reports for the Camp Director.
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of camp operations and programming.


Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role within a camp, school, or recreational setting is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for working with children and fostering a positive camp experience.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Background check required (Fingerprints and FBI Background Check).


Additional Information:

  • Position Type: Seasonal (Summer)
  • Hours: Full-time or Part-time, Monday to Friday, with flexible hours depending on camp needs.
  • Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.

Job Description:  True North Expedition Summer Camp is seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our team as Summer Camp Counselors. As a staff member, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring a fun, safe, and enriching experience for campers aged 5-12. Your primary responsibilities will include:


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervision and Engagement:
    • Facilitate daily activities in groups of up to 9 campers.
    • Provide supervision, guidance, and encouragement to campers.
    • Ensure camper safety and well-being throughout the day.

  1. Activity Leadership:
    • Assist in the creation and execution of engaging summer camp activities in alignment with the camp’s mission.
    • Lead and participate in a variety of activities, including outdoor adventures, arts and crafts, science projects, and team-building exercises.

  1. Parent/Guardian Communication & Accountability:
    • Gather daily sign-in/sign-out signatures from parents/guardians for each attendee.
    • Serve as a primary point of contact for parents regarding their child’s participation and experience at camp.

  1. Role Model & Mentorship:
    • Act as a positive role model for campers, demonstrating respect, leadership, teamwork, and responsibility.
    • Foster an inclusive, encouraging, and engaging environment for all campers.

  1. Safety & Compliance:
    • Follow and enforce all safety protocols and emergency procedures.
    • Assist in handling minor first aid situations as needed.


Qualifications: 

  • Must be at least 18 years old (Junior Camp Counselors may apply at 16).
  • Experience working with children in a camp, school, or recreational setting preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and participate in physical activities.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Background check required (Fingerprints and FBI Background Check).


Additional Information:

  • Position Type: Seasonal (Summer)
  • Hours: Part-time or full-time, Monday to Friday, ranging from 10-30 hours per week.
  • Compensation: Competitive hourly rate.
  • Location: The Ledges/Octagon/Kendall Lake Trailhead, Peninsula, OH
